Obama Ad - Big Bird

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZxs09eV-Vc

The Obama advertisement featuring Big Bird from the PBS kids show Sesame Street has been a popular video on youtube.com since the first presidential debate.  Governor Mitt Romney has stated that one way to reduce the debt in the country is to cut the PBS network, which included the very popular children's show Sesame Street.  This show has been around for decades and is still prominent in the lives of younger children.  How can Romney possibly take this timeless piece of American history away from us?  On a more serious note, how can cancelling the network possibly cut the country's debt enough to make a significant difference?  Hopefully he has thought this through.  I don't believe his statement will keep any of his supporters from voting for him, but I'm sure their children won't be thrilled.  He does need to come up with more significant resolutions for the country's issues.  And perhaps Obama should attack his opponent's bigger issues instead of the minor details of Romney's potential projects.  The ad is not necessarily informative and it seems almost like a joke.  Not exactly sure who should be laughed at, Obama for attacking the remark from the debate or Romney for claiming the task will actually help the debt crisis.

Vice-Presidential Debate

The vice presidential debate really caught my interest. The mediator asked, what I believed to be, very hard hitting questions. These questions sparked much debate between the candidates which reflected not only where they stand on subjects, but also their ability to communicate their opinions and plans of action. Ryan had big ideas, but it seemed there were no true plans to back anything up. Biden held strong in his opinions, by not only providing plans but bringing with him experience. One of the most interesting questions asked occurred at the end of the debate and referenced the candidates religious values and the direct relationship that existed between it and their stance on abortion. I find it interesting that this question was even asked due to the fact that supposedly a separation is supposed to exist between church and state. Ryan's response to this question reflected his strong religious opinions that abortion is wrong. While Biden held fast to the belief that his religious views are his own and although he may believe one thing, as the Vice President of the United States, you stand for everyone and not just yourself. This vice presidential debate played out much differently than the first presidential debate, and I believe, it has set the stage for a very interesting debate to come.

Vietnam Memorial

After talking about the creation  and history of  the Vietnam Memorial in class I came across this image on the internet.  Not only one can get a great appreciation for this monument by just being there but also one could take a piece of it home. I have personally not been there before but by hearing some people in class that have had a chance to be there in person talk about their experiences I get the sense that this is a place of respect and remembrance.
I find this image very powerful not only because of the amount of names on the wall, but seeing a kid making a copy of the name of possibly a grandparent or relative that might have served in the Vietnam War.
This picture is directly tying generations together by allowing the people that visit the memorial to take the name of the fallen soldier home.

Presidential Debate 2012

To me Mitt Romney was annoying in that he kept interrupting the president and the mediator. He never let them finish their statements and always felt that he should have the last word regardless. I also did not like how Romney constantly changed his answers especially from things that he had said before the debate. President Obama looked out onto the audience and into the camera addressing the nation, Romney only looked at Obama and only addressed him. I think that Obama was very respectful in that he allowed answers to be finished and asked. However with how Romney was acting I feel that he should have been more aggressive. The stage to me was just pretty bland. They focused on whoever was talking and went back and forth. Romney had a red tie and Obama a blue one representing their parties. This experience could have been different for someone else that didn't watch it on ABC.

Website Design

While working on one of my web design assignments I figured I would surf the web in search of a cool and fresh layout. Hot topics like fashion and politics routed me towards the democratic party's website.
Wow, what a cool design. I am impartial to any of the candidates but I must say Obama's website is top notch, I suggest you all take a look at it.

Blithe Riley

Blithe Riley visits University of Kentucky's campus.
Topic: Occupy Wall Street.
In my opinion I was a little confused by their overall goals.
I am not sure if  what they were doing was any different from other groups or organizations that are against a certain issue and all they conquer is media recognition. With all do respect, at the end of the day nothing remarkable happened, they got recognition but no real outcome. However, I do admire the way they performed at the museums and how they captured the visitors attention, for the artistic part of it.

RNC 2012

I would like to talk about the reveal for the stage at the Republican National Convention  in Tampa Bay. Now more than ever less is more, we can see a clear use of simple sharp elegant lines throughout the stage. Also, a very patriotic theme as we can expect from such event.
The use of various sized screens will give the audience a better view of Mitt Romney when he takes the stage. An overall slick design that goes in hand with today's visual culture.
